THQ has confirmed a sequel to Metro 2033, the post-apocalyptic shooter from 4A games, is in development. The publisher was a bit tight-lipped about the project, but offered a few details about what to expect.

"4A Games are indeed working on a new Metro title, although we're still very early in pre-production," a representative told us. "Working title is 'Metro 2034' but don't expect a straight sequel to Metro 2033 or even parallels with Glukhovsky's book"

Core Games Vice president, Danny Bilson told CVG That The Sequel is just one of 4 titles the publisher plans to release in 3D, including the first game.

THQ is should have more details about the game soon, so stay tuned.

The Somehow popular Facebook/Myspace/iPhone...I could go on, Game Mafia Wars According to Pajiba, Radar Pictures and producer Ted Field (The Invention of Lying, The Box) are planning to develop the film, which is described as a "crime thriller." In the text-based adventure game, players can build up their Mafia by recruiting friends and performing jobs to earn money and experience points.

Updates to Killing Floor have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

* Fixed clients hanging during map change
* Fixed an exploit found in the Perks system
* Fixed a glitch and memory leak in the Audio system
* Fixed downloaded files in the Cache folder causing Perks to disable

Mac Specific

* Audio effects should be more correct (footsteps should be audible, player's own gunshots should be louder, etc).
* Fixed MP7 Shoot sound not working properly
* Dedicated server should work now.
* Motion blur, windowed mode, and crossbow scope should work on all ATI GPUs, now.
* No longer forces crossbow scope to "Textured" mode at startup.
* Other minor fixes.

Updates to Aliens vs Predator have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted.

New Features

* Enabled XP gain, leaderboard updates and associated achievements and skin unlocks for non-ranked games as well as Ranked Matches. Now the differences between ranked and unranked games is that in Ranked Matches, skill-based matchmaking, team balancing and other Ranked Match associated rules are enforced and in Player matches they are not. You are now unable to have a game that does not update the leaderboards, or award XP.
* Major overhaul of low-level networking code for player-hosted (i.e. not Dedicated Server) games in order to improve connection stability and pings.

Bug Fixes

* Prevented runaway memory consumption under D3D11 if an FMV is playing when you lock (ctrl-alt-del - "lock computer") your machine with an NVIDIA card.

Thank ABC's Lost for the recent craze of time travel-based storylines seeping into pop culture. With Call of Duty Black: Ops, we could have yet another time traveling adventure. Activision is being very cagey about confirming the exact dates that Black Ops takes place, thus adding fuel to our time traveling fire. The latest battles to be depicted by the hallowed series are centered on the Cold War and Vietnam eras. At least, we think they are. The fact of the matter is that we really have no idea the exact years that Call of Duty: Black Ops spans, and that's one of the many reasons why this latest edition has our complete attention.

Today on the Battle.net forums Blizzard poster Nethaera announced that the Star Craft II Beta would not be closing on May 31st.

In order to "prepare for the final phase of beta testing," they would extend the current beta test in all regions until Monday, June 7. At that point the beta will go offline for "several weeks," for hardware and software configuration.

Blizzard also reports that the beta will return for a couple of weeks before the game's launch on July 27th.
